Fdtd Modelling of Finite Size Ebg Structures

چکیده
To characterise the reflection properties of printed surfaces like FSS (Frequency Selective Surfaces) and EBG (Electromagnetic Band-Gap), it is standard to use a plane wave excitation, and then compare the phase of the incident and the reflected waves. Thus, the phase difference over the frequency can be obtained. Nevertheless, in most cases, only infinite size structures are considered. In this paper a procedure is proposed for the modelling of finite size substrates containing printed EBG elements, using a plane wave excitation in combination with the FDTD (Finite Difference Time Domain) method.

Fdtd Simulations of Reconfigurable Electromagnetic Band Gap Structures for Millimeter Wave Applications
Metallo-dielectric electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structures are studied in the millimeter regime with a finite difference time domain (FDTD) simulator. Several EBG waveguiding structures are considered for millimeter-wave power splitting, switching and filtering operations. It is demonstrated that triangular EBG structures lend themselves naturally to the design of Y-power splitters. Square EBG...

In this paper, the finite difference time domain method in spherical coordinates is used to analyze a microstrip conical antenna with a dielectric electromagnetic band-gap (EBG) structure as substrate. The voltage standing wave ratio, matched impedance, maximum gain as well as far-field radiation patterns, are presented. Our study suggests that the microstrip conical antenna on EBG substrate ho...
متن کاملSurface Waves of Finite Size Electromag- Netic Band Gap Woodpile Structures
This paper studies the surface modes at the interface of finite size Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) woodpile structures. The impact of different types of woodpile terminations on the properties of these surface modes is analyzed. For all the studied terminations there exist surface modes which must be taken into account when designing components based on this EBG structure.
